Yoga and Backpacking Wilderness Retreat
When: September 10-14, 2020
Where: Sierra Nevadas
Your Guides: Yoga with Satya Gita, Nature + Nourishment with Alaya Babineau
Communing with nature is an essential practice. On this wilderness retreat we will backpack to a remote location where we can seek the inner chambers of our hearts and be in our bodies. Our time in the mountains will help us to connect with the vastness of this planet, and its relationship to ourselves.
We love this earth and being in this human body so deeply, that we wish to share this embodied love affair with you, and to be gentle guides to remembering our indigenous place within: we belong to this earth, just as WE ARE NATURE.
*Our willingness to listen deeply, sit in silence, and reconnect with ourselves within nature and the more-than-human world supports SEEING from our hearts, and remembering in our guts that we are all connected, helps us to understand that what we do to the earth we do to ourselves.
*To choose responsibility and not look away from our hurtful impact and be kind to ourselves as we discover all the ways we still “do not want to be inconvenienced."
*To choose to accept that we do not know, living in the mystery of the ever unfolding moment to moment.
*Find the freedom to be closer to your self. Leaning in to your direct experience and listen to the preciousness of your heart.
- *How we choose our food is one of the most impactful ways of positively affecting climate change and helping the planet and our bodies to heal while simultaneously finding resiliency once again.
- *Our ability to deeply feel, and to learn how to stay with the intensity of our emotions and the emotions of others, can also help to heal the planet.

Satya Gita is a long-time, devoted practitioner and teacher of yoga. In her more than 20 years of practice, she has studied many forms of yoga, including Jivamukti, Integral, Ashtanga, Standing Wave, Forrest, and Anusara. Born in Oslo and raised in Trondheim Norway, she studied dance at The London Contemporary Dance School and on Africa’s Ivory Coast before moving to New York to study and teach at Jivamukti. She was also certified at the Integral Yoga Institute and studied Standing Wave.
Satya then created and implemented a yoga program for Harbin Hot Springs, an internationally known retreat center in California. During this time, she founded her own teaching style called Anahatha Yoga, which utilizes physical postures and alignment to open energetic dimensions and pathways in the body. Preparing the body in this way opens the student’s awareness to more subtle dimensions of Being in an embodied way. She has been teaching and developing this form for 18 years, as well as training and certifying others in the approach. She continues to offer workshops using Anahatha yoga to help students deepen in themselves.
In addition to her immersion in yoga, Satya has studied and performed as a professional dancer and is a licensed bodyworker skilled in many modalities. She has trained in Amanae (a body-based emotional release method) and other personal transformation work, including more than 10 years of training in the Diamond Approach.
You will find that there is an easy rapport with Satya because she brings delight to her teaching, as well as personal contact, humor, and lots of love and compassion.
Satya is currently based in Oakland, California, and leads yoga classes locally and yoga retreats around the country and internationally.
Alaya’s way of sharing reconnects us to a deep resolve from the heart, to living a life of fierce devotion in choosing loving care, cooperation and consideration in all the ways we move in life.
She helps us to remember our indigenous place within: as we belong to this earth, just as WE ARE NATURE. Alaya supports you in building inner and outer resilience practices and community support to face the massive changes happening in the world. She has been a lifelong student, teacher and practitioner of massage therapy for 30 years, biodynamic cranial sacral therapy and body-centered meditation. Lead workshops at Harbin Hot Springs for environmentally conscious eating, cleansing and self-care for 10 years. Wilderness Within-Rites of Passage
Vision Fast
Relational Restoration for Self * Nature * Community
TBA 2021
We love this earth and being in this human body so deeply, that we wish to share this embodied love affair with you, and to be a gentle guide to remembering our indigenous place within: we belong to this earth, just as
WE ARE NATURE.
Wilderness Within Vision Fast
This contemporary vision quest is a dynamic wilderness rites of passage for men and women seeking greater depth and clarity about life purpose and meaning. This time gives us the gift of restoring our fundamental relationship with stillness, the animate world, and the nature of being.
Our time begins with two days of preparation at basecamp, cultivating ability to be present, deepening intentions, being with feelings, sharing healthy group meals and locating your “place” for solo time. Journeying out for your 4 Day sit and fast on the land will then follow. We will complete our journey with two days of integrating what has been experienced and learned with how to “live” this in your daily life.
I am offering a 30 Day Soul Food Cleanse and Reset before the wilderness fast. Beginning with cleansing and resetting your relationship to food and nourishment is an act of kindness toward your body and mind before a full 4 Day water fast.
Wilderness Vision Fast: Sliding Scale from: $800-$1100 Includes: Simple Meals
